"This is my third course with Firebrand and each time, its been an enriching experience. Though I found that I was out of my depth in the OCA/OCPJP course, the instructor was extremely patient, provided excellent tutelage, and encouraged me to continue pursing the qualifications. He helped me plan a good course of attack in terms of what other courses I can take to prepare for my eventual retake of OCA/OCPJP and also what things I can do in my spare time to really come to grips with Java as a programming language. That is the beauty of these courses. Extreme in their preparation but even if you don't get the qualification first time, you never walk away empty handed. I feel even more confident that when I return in a few months time, I will pass the OCA and possibly the OCPJP and I have absolutely brilliant instructors - to thank for that, in due course."

Note: This course used to be called Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA).

Firebrand Training's 6 day Oracle Certified Master (OCM) Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect provides students with knowledge needed to develop robust architectures for enterprise Java applications using the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) technology. The Enterprise Java applications developed using the architecture as a guideline can accommodate rapid change and growth.

By taking this course, participants gain an understanding of the technical context of the Java EE and relevant technologies, and strategies needed to create application blueprints that work well when implementing Java EE technologies. These strategies include effective decision making through the use of systemic qualities (such as scalability and flexibility), Java EE technology blueprints and design patterns.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to

  1. Make good use of Java EE component technologies to solve typical problems in system architecture
  2. Derive software systems using techniques outlined in the Java EE Blueprint and solutions defined in the Java EE Patterns catalogue
  3. Address quality-of-service requirements in a cost-effective manner using engineering trade-off techniques
  4. Describe the role of the architect and the products an architect delivers
  5. List and describe typical problems associated with large-scale enterprise systems

Students who can benefit from this course are those who are responsible for the overall software architecture and design of Java EE technology-based enterprise software systems. These students would also require insight into the role of the enterprise architect and want to use Java EE technologies in n-tier enterprise systems. Existing architects can also benefit from an understanding of how to use Java EE technologies to improve quality of service in their enterprise systems.

Other accelerated training providers rely heavily on lecture and independent self-testing and study.

Effective technical instruction must be highly varied and interactive to keep attention levels high, promote camaraderie and teamwork between the students and instructor, and solidify knowledge through hands-on learning.

Firebrand Training provides instruction to meet every learning need:

  • Intensive group instruction
  • One-on-one instruction attention
  • Hands-on labs
  • Lab partner and group exercises
  • Question and answer drills
  • Independent study

This information has been provided as a helpful tool for candidates considering training. Courses that include certification come with a certification guarantee. Pass first time or train again for free (just pay for accommodation and exams on your return). We do not make any guarantees about personal successes or benefits of obtaining certification. Benefits of certification determined through studies do not guarantee any particular personal successes.

Day 4

Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect Certified Master Exam (1Z0-807)

Days 5-6

Assignment

The assignment requires that you architect a solution for a small but plausible business system. To keep the amount of work involved to a reasonable level, the programs you create will be much more restricted in capability, and much cruder in overall presentation, than anything you would actually create for a paying customer. However, the essence of the problem will be the same. You will be graded on correctly solving the technical and performance requirements, not on the "polish" of the finished product.
